Tamara Albaitis works as an interdisciplinary artist, particularly through sound, sculpture and installation.
In 1997, she began her formal training at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. Here she received a vigorous, technical foundation, yet was urged to compliment her work with untraditional materials. A love for processes and tradition emerged, complementing the need to experiment through different mediums.

Traveling, her primary choice in obtaining new inspiration, led her to study at the International School of Art in Hangzhou, China. There she studied Chinese Landscape Painting and Taoism. This was a major growing point in her work, marking the importance of the everyday, attentively living in the ‘now’. After returning from southeast Asia, Tamara acquired her Bachelors of Fine Arts at the San Francisco Art Institute.
She was asked to be a part of the first experimental sound department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2003. In 2005, she became the first person in the United States to graduate with a Master's Degree in Sound Art. She currently works and resides in the Bay Area.
